Where to begin. I felt a little dazed and very confused. I have read through my information pack, some forum information about setting up this blog. Looked at some other students who have just completed this part of the course and am feeling overwhelmed. I have read and reread the exercises knowing I will never have as much time as I would like to dedicate to it. Three false starts due to work emergencies and finally I am outside in the great outdoors with my camera in hand and now I feel relaxed. Here are the results of my first trip.
This exercise is to show a subject that can be photographed close up and at a distance and to show different frames. The first below is a quick shot as the subject first caught my attention. It is a simple tourist shot with not much thought given to it. I have instinctively made it a vertical shot as the subject lends to it however there is nothing which would really catch your attention.
Moving around ths shot caught my attention as the statues are many and the subjects varied this frame gives a sense of distance and an idea of how many subjects there are.
This shot I have zoomed in. It allows you to see the face of the statue and its form better.
This image although not of quality as the light is too bright lends to the purpose of this exercise it gives a sense of place to the image. Barcelona with the Gaudi Cathedral in the background and Gaudis statue from one of the appartments in the foreground. It gives us a sense of how much this one man is responsible for the architecture of this City. It gives a sense of size of the statue as although evidently not as large as the cathedral they are large and give a certain overbearing sense when you stand in their midst.
From the image above I have created different crops.
In the cropped images I have managed to cut out just the face of the statue. To have images similar to the images taken before of the two statues together and also I have cut the final image of the face of the statue in half with the Gaudi Cathedral in the background. When you visit Barcelona you get the sense of never seeing everything particularly about Gaudi there is so much to see. This image to me reveals a little and leaves you wanting to go back.
