This exercise was an absolute delightful discovery. Again I have taken out my metal christmas decoration which is quite small and tested the technique with a small daylight lamp I have wrapped the black card around the light so that it comes out at the end of the black card which I have made smaller at the end as I wanted to concentrate the light on a very small object. I was not sure how it would work as I originally had imagined it used as in the example on a larger subject however it was amazing. Here are the results, this is a technique I have filed away for future use which I am sure I will use.
In the first image I have shown how the light can be concentrated on one part of the subject. In the second image I have tried to use the technique in a way which suits this subject. As it is a train and on a black background I have tried to light up the front of the train to give the impression of a train arriving in the night. You can see at the very front and to the right direct reflection from the metal of the same brightness of the light which gives a true sense of the shiny colour of the metal.
